Three Kentucky soldiers’ names added to Patriots Peace Memorial

LOUISVILLE, KY. (WLKY News)

The names of three Kentucky soldiers were added to the Patriots Peace Memorial on Monday in Louisville.

The memorial honors military personnel from Kentucky who died in the line of duty but not in hostile action. The annual enshrinement ceremony takes place on Memorial Day each year.

“It’s important to remind people of the sacrifices that our families give and our children give by serving our country and protecting our freedoms,” said Roseanne Tafel, whose son Charles Brucker Tafel, an Army Ranger of Louisville, died in 2022.

The two other soldiers whose names were added are Jacob M. Moore, a Marine of Catlettsburg, and Rollie Brandon Pennington, a Marine of Louisville.

The names of the soldiers are etched onto glass plates, which then replace bricks on the monument walls.
